WebOffice  2.66 Complete Guide

The analysis function is designed to help you build your own reports.  To achieve the best results using the functions a set of best practices should be followed.

Filter Before Displaying Data.

All data that is displayed to the end user must be sent over internet each time the user presses a button in the browser.  Displaying thousands of records will take a long time.

Data will be populated as soon as a measure and a dimension have been added to the measures and category area respectively.  By adding filters to the filter area prior to dragging dimensions to the category area the amount of data to be loaded can be limited.

Work in graphical mode first.

For complex reports, it is seldom appropriate to use graphical mode, but consider using it to start with since it is faster than grid mode.  There is no paging function in grid mode – all data is loaded into the browser whereas data is loaded on demand in graphical mode.

Remove reports that are not used.

A complex report can be several hundred kilobytes large.  These reports are available in the drop-down list in the analysis function.  Loading these reports can take long time.  Consider removing obsolete reports to increase the overall performance.
