If you would like to use the SD card as a normal SD card again, you need to do a low level format the SD Card. Ordinary formatting in windows will only format the file system, not remove the partition that the OS image resides in.

This can be done with the windows console program “diskpart”, by removing the primary partition of the SD card disk and then creating a primary partition on the diskSD card.

An easier way is to use “SD formatter” program from the SD card association which can be downloaded from www.sdcard.org.
